Education and Qualifications: Jack Farrell
I am a retired teacher now living full time in Mammoth Lakes. I have visited in Mammoth since 1965 and have owned here since 2004. I retired to live here full-time in June 2007. I have a wealth of experience in education that will inform my decision-making as a school board member. I taught at Thousand Oaks High School in Ventura County for 25 years. I primarily taught Advanced Placement English, but also taught all levels of English including English as a Second Language (ESL). I have a degree in English (cum laude) from USC and a Master's Degree in English from UCLA. I have taught in both public and private schools and have served in the following capacities: Vice-Principal (Activities and Athletics), Athletic Director, Department Chair, Teacher and Coach (cross country and track). I also spent 6 years at the District Office working as a Consultant Teacher, both mentoring new teachers and in-servicing veteran teachers and administrators. I have two sons and a daughter-in-law who are public school teachers. I have recognized expertise in curriculum, secondary reading, athletics and professional development. I now work part-time for the Mono County Office of Education as a mentor to new teachers.
